Christmas

Over Christmas break I plan on working, hanging out with friends and family. For my Christmas wishlist my mom asks us to put something we want, something we need, something to read, and  something to wear.

What I hope to accomplish by going to college is to get a new perspective on things. I think college is a good place to find out who you are as a person and your own independent thoughts on things. The person I am going to college for is myself. Of course I want to make my parents proud and what not but I think that college is something you have to do for yourself because you want to make yourself better.
What characteristics matter the most when choosing a college is finding one that really fits you and whatever you plan on pursuing in life. I will probably seek my mom for some input because I would like to think that she knows me very well and be very helpful in setting me in the right direction. Although it will have to be that really makes the decision.
The goals that I have set for myself are to help myself help others. So I think college will definitely help me do this.

Job

I found a vary of jobs that I think are very good for teens. Such as babysitting and working at an animal shelter. I think these are good jobs to have as teens because it instills responsibility and character. Also it is very flexible which is very good for teens considering we have very busy schedules.
Teens have so many extracurricular activities that can take up time after school. These jobs allows you time to do those things and your homework. To get ready for an interview you might want to look not so much professional but maybe presentable. So don't show up in shorts and a tank top. As for the difficulty, it was fairly simple to find a job online. There are so many choices the only hard part I think is finding the right one and which ones apply to your schedule.

Homeless to Harvard

I was very moved by the film, even though it was very sad it was a very big eye opener. It showed how far you can get if you really pushed yourself. My favorite part of the movie was when she was late for the test to get into that school and she was determined to get in and she wasn't going to take no for an answer. Honestly, I think I would be that resilient only because in that position you don't really have a choice you have to work that hard, you have to want it. Otherwise the alternative it to basically end up like her parents and to her that was not an option.

My College Budget

I think the most surprising thing on my budget would definitely be the cost of books. I knew books would be pricey but I wasn't expecting the books to take up nearly half of my paycheck. Honestly I think that I am not ready for all of that responsibility. During the summer when I would work all day I would come home and just want to go to bed so I couldn't imagine going to work and doing college work. I think that something that you could do to prepare for college expenses is to set up a savings account now! I think it would take so much of the stress away and if you already had some money saved up you wouldn't have to work as many hours during the week trying to pay for all your expenses.

Career Choice

The career path that I intend on following is psychology. Psychology really interests me because I like to study the mind and behavior of animals and humans and why we act the way we do. Basically what a psychologist does is study the behavior of people and animals in an effort to understand, compare, and explain why they act and respond in certain ways. They collect and apply knowledge related to the mental, emotional, and behavioral characteristics of individuals and groups. They make around $50,582-$93,314 a year which isn't bad considering that a lot of psychologist are self- employed. Psychologists may work alone, with social workers, with other psychologists, or with psychiatrists or other physicians. They may also work with parents, teachers, counselors, administrators, and others. Employment settings include college classrooms, hospitals, correctional institutions, clinics, private offices, schools, businesses, and government agencies.

STRESS

What stresses me out the most is probably work. On everything you do it has your name in it so if you mess up it is on you, and in the business I am in your name is everything. On the Stress test I scored and okay score of 10 so it really isn't that bad. A way to kind of calm stress is to just slow down and breathe and find ways to help. Maybe get more organized so you don't have to rush. For example, get your stuff ready for school the night before so your morning can be stress free.

Organization

My current organization method is using a planner. It helps me remember things like homework and events that are happening that week. It also holds me responsible for things if I forget something I can go look back and see that I wrote it down. A way that procrastination hurts is that it increases your stress levels. I am not even going to lie I procrastinate on things at times and every time that I do I put myself through a ton of stress trying to get it done at the last minute. A way to fight procrastination is to set a note saying that the project or paper or whatever is due a day before it is actually due. Another way is telling people your plan and when your going to get it done that way other people can also help you stay on track until it becomes second nature.

About Me

A little something about me is that my birthday is June 23, 1998 so I am sixteen. My favorite color is a fight between yellow and pink, I plan on moving after high school to a different state. The reason I am taking College Transition is because even though I kind of have an idea of what I want to do after high school I think it is very wise to have a back-up plan. I plan on going to a school instead of an actual college but I know that if I decide to change mind and don't want to go into that particular field I want to have a "safety net" that I can fall back on.
